The National Human Rights Commission has expressed its serious concern on the news published on Kantipur Daily on September 20 which quoted that the vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers expressed his views as ''Commission's member appointed by government" and the other sentence" Dr. Giri expressed his resentment on the NHRC's welcome towards the ceasefire announcement by CPN ( Maoist )."

'' The Commission functions independently and impartially within the jurisdiction set forth in the law as it is an independent national institution established by the law. The decisions and the recommendations of the Commission are submitted in accordance with procedures established by law and the solutions thereof are also made in accordance with law. Therefore, the Commission requests His Majesty Government to be aware on not to allow any acts which may undermine the independence and the impartiality of the commission and to cooperate with the functions and responsibilities of the commission", as stated in the letter.
