Terrorist Attacked Temporary Road Construction Base Camp in Kalikot

Development work to construct the Surkhet-Jumla road by the government has come under attack by the Maoists terrorists. A base station used for the road construction of the road at Pili in Kalikot district was attacked on August 7, 2005 at 6:15 PM. Clashes between the Royal Nepalese Army and the terrorists continued until 3:45 AM on August 8, 2005. Reinforcements were sent to the area of the clash.

There were more than one hundred civilians working in the construction camp when the Maoist attacked it on Sunday night. According to latest reports from the incident site, one soldier attended martyrdom and three others were injured in the gun-battle.

The Royal Nepalese Army along with local residents were involved in the construction of the road in the remote and one of the most backward districts in the country.
