Interaction With the Special Advisor of the UN Secretary General
A team led by Lakhder Brahimi, special advisor of the UN Secretary General, called on Chief of the Army Staff General Pyar Jung Thapa on July 13, 2005.
The other members of the delegation were UNHCR representatives for Nepal Ian Martin, UN Resident Representative Matthew Kahane and senior official of UN political affairs Tamrat Samuel.
During the meeting, Chief of the Army Staff General Thapa reiterated that the Royal Nepalese Army was committed to the international human rights laws.
On the occasion, Brahimi commended the RNA efforts for abiding by the human rights principles.
