COAS Visits India
- The Right Honourable General Pyar Jung Thapa, Chief of the Army Staff of the Royal Nepalese Army is to depart for an official visit to India from 28th November 2004 to 30th November 2004. The Indian Land Forces Commander General N.S. Vij has forwarded an official invitation to General Thapa to review the Officer Cadet Pass Out Parade at the National Defense Academy, Pune. General Thapa is to attend the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
- The National Defense Academy of India is a premier institution in India where training for the Army, Navy and Air Force are jointly imparted to the Cadets. The Cadets Passing Out from this institution has already made to the top ranks in the Army. Navy and the Air Force. It is a matter of great honour and pride for Nepal and Royal Nepalese Army that COAS Thapa is reviewing the parade as the Chief Guest at such an esteemed institution.
- Chief Of Staff Lt Gen Rukmangad Katwal and Royal Nepal Military Academy Commandant Col Pawan Jung Pandey are to accompany Gen Thapa during the visit.
- Nepal has sent few Cadets to the premier institution and Lt Gen Rukmangad Katwal, the accompanying General with the COAS, is also an alumnus of this academy.
