Press-statement

It is going to be the third week of the cease-fire in order to resolve the existing civil war in the country through peaceful dialogue with a view to achieve forward going political, economic and social way-out. In the meanwhile, it is well known that our Party has taken the issue of dialogue in course of the on-going civil war with all seriousness and responsibility to form a negotiation team, ease the tension and take further necessary steps. But soon after the declaration of the cease-fire, there have been totally baseless, false and pre-planned rumours in the forefront of the media, such as some of the senior leaders of the Party have visited the palace and a clandestine accord reached with the king. Our Party has regarded this disinformation as a conspiracy against negotiation hatched by the reactionaries from within and outside the country, who dislike peace and progress being prevailed in the land. In spite of our constant effort to involve all political parties, intellectual personalities and the mass in favour of the country and its people through the process of negotiation for the Round-Table Conference, an Interim Government and the Constitutional Assembly, few parliamentary parties, especially the Communist Party of Nepal(Unified Marxist-Leninist) and the chief leader of the Nepali Congress have exhibited their tendency of nourishing such disinformation, and this has given rise to seriously doubt their intention. Instead of creating a trustworthy and comfortable atmosphere, flashing out the situation of the sympathizers who were held up in prisons, and initiating the process of their release, the intense movements, checks, searches and arrests on the part of the royal army and the paramilitary force and the statements of the Ministry of Defence against the so-called collection of funds through donation have been negatively reflecting on the state of ceasefire and the process of negotiation. All these series of incidents visualize the reactionary plot contrary to the expectation of the mass for peace, freedom and progress. We cordially request all political forces, which are in favour of the people, the intellectual personalities and the mass to unite against the shrewd manipulation of the Nepalese for peace, freedom and progress. We are obliged to put an end to all those activities, which create barriers for ceasefire and the process of negotiation. In this context, there are indications that a reign of terror and tricks have been spread through fund collection to accuse our Party. In the current context, the Central Office hereby directs the whole Party line to suspend all fund raising activities, unless one voluntarily wishes to contribute, until further notice to disrupt the tricky steps undertaken by the reactionaries.
