Released: Prem Sagar Karmacharya (m), aged 40, businessman and social worker
On 2 December, Prem Sagar Karmacharya was released from army custody in Chhauni army barracks, Kathmandu. He was originally arrested from his home during the evening of 10 October, by five security personnel in plain clothes.
Before his transfer to Chhauni barracks, Prem Sagar Karmacharya was reportedly held at Bhadrakali barracks in central Kathmandu, where he was tortured. He was kept handcuffed and blindfolded throughout his detention. It is not known why he was arrested, though it may have been connected to a meeting he held at his home with Babu Ram Bhattarai a political leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Maoist.
No further action is required form the UA network. Many thanks to all those who sent appeals.
