Inauguration of Shree Gyanendra Military Eastern Regional Residential Higher Secondary School

Vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers Kirtinidhi Bista inaugurated Shree Gyanendra Military Eastern Regional Residential Higher Secondary School in Phusre, Dharan on July 12, 2005. A total of 105 students are studying in the school that runs classes up to grade four which will gradually be upgraded to grade 12.

Bista said that it was the responsibility of the state to ensure access of all children to education since it was the key to national development. He said that educated human resource was indispensable for the prosperity of the nation. "Education should be a prerequisite for infrastructure development besides inculcating moral values in the children."

Hailing the contribution of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) in safeguarding the nation, the crown and the citizens, Bista said that the army had not only in maintained law and order, and restored peace, but also contributed to the educational and physical development.

Chief of the Army Staff General Pyar Jung Thapa said that the army was involved in the public welfare activities as per the wish of His Majesty the King.

Stating that the army was devoted to the nation and the Monarch, Thapa said that the RNA had accorded top priority to education. He informed that the RNA was planning to establish a similar school in another city of the country next year.

"We have been working out to increase the students’ enrollments and facilities in the school," he said.
