Press Statement

Indian security forces have taken Comrade Chandra Prakash Gajurel (Comrade Gaurab) a Political Bureau member of the Central Committee of our Glorious Party, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in custody on 20 August from Chennai Airport of Madras. Comrade Gajurel was heading towards Europe clandestinely according to our party decision for the propaganda of our party policy and programme. At the present context while, even with the support of government of India, a process of peace negotiation is ongoing between our party and old state, we urge the government of India to release Comrade Gajurel with no delay and respectfully, without taking the technical question of going Europe clandestinely as serious, unnecessarily. His release will not only prove the Indian government’s willing to establish peace in Nepal, but also will give a new shape to our diplomatic relation. At the same time, our party urges to all those intellectuals, journalists, lawyers and broad masses of people who wants to see the real emancipation and progress of Nepalese, to help for the release of Comrade Gajurel (Comrade Gaurab) and give a new dimension on the unity of the Nepalese and Indian people.
