NEPAL Geeta Shahi (f), aged 23
It has been confirmed that a political activist, who "disappeared" after she was arrested by plainclothes police on 31 October, is in police detention.
An Amnesty International researcher visited Geeta Shahi at Damauli police station, Tanahu district, on 21 November. Geeta Shahi confirmed that she had been detained secretly for 13 days. She has not been tortured or ill-
treated. Amnesty International is pursuing the issue of the secret detention with the relevant authorities.
Geeta Shahi is the chairwoman of the All Nepal Women’s Organization (Revolutionary) in Tanahun district, which is affiliated to the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
No further action is required. Thank you to all who sent appeals.
